BlackBerry Alerts Setup After installation BlackBerry Alerts will attempt to auto start. The first time the program is run it will need to be granted permissions for phone log access, SMS connections and SMS server connections. Select to have this access always granted, the program will not run otherwise. The program main screen is shown here:
By default BlackBerry Alerts will use profile mode and provide notification of missed calls and missed SMS. Later on this guide will explain other features but first let’s get those features working. Exit BlackBerry Alerts by clicking escape/back (this will
minimize the application). Then go to your profiles application. For
Edit your current configuration and select the new profile called BB Alerts. You can also edit other profiles that you use.
Set the Out of Holster to Tone and Volume to High. Here you can also choose a ring tone but it is recommended to set repeat notification to none. Exit and save. Basic setup is now complete!
The setup can be verified by going into BlackBerry Alerts,
selecting options then select audio test from the application menu. You should
hear the selected ring tone play during the profiles part of the test. To continue with more advanced setup go back into the BlackBerry Alerts Program. Bringing up the menu we see a few options:

LED Pause Time – for use in Color Cycle mode and determines how long to pause between LED colors when multiple alerts present. LED Color Mode – Color cycle displays each active alerts color and priority displays whatever event has highest priority. (SMS, Voicemail, calls, PIN, email). Schedule Screen
By default BlackBerry Alerts will always alert but if you want to turn off alerts at certain times than this is where you can do that. The above screen will not alert before 9 am and after 5 pm on weekdays. Programs queues alerts basically means the program will start alerting at 9 am for any unchecked alerts coming in before that. Registration Screen
The program can be unlocked from this screen by entering in your registration key that goes with your BlackBerry PIN. If you get a new BlackBerry it will have a new PIN and the program will no longer be registered until you get a new key. The registration key is 5 digits and is sensitive to small mistakes in your PIN. So when you register you should always supply your pin in capital letters and try not to mix up the 8 (number) with D (letter). Your pin is also in HEX so any letters other than A, B, C, D, E and F are not valid. |
